Inspiring Kids to Never Give Up!

I was honored to speak to the kids at Eastbluff Elementary School in Newport Beach, CA during Red Ribbon Week.

I LOVE INSPIRING KIDS TO NEVER GIVE UP!

This week I traveled down to Newport Beach, CA early on Tuesday morning to deliver an inspiring talk to the kids during their Red Ribbon Week assembly.

Red Ribbon Week is a yearly campaign to keep kids informed about staying drug-free, but it also includes additional inspirational messages about making good choices, overcoming challenges, and pursuing their dreams – which is what I spoke about!

The kids, parents, and faculty at Eastbluff know me as DJ Tony J. because I’ve been helping out with their yearly student Talent Show and provided DJ services for a variety of events they hold throughout the year.

What surprised them is when I told them that I have a physical disability!

I talked to the kids about O.I. and what it is, how it has affected my life, and how I’ve been able to overcome the challenges I’ve faced and succeed in life despite having this disability.

I shared with them three important life lessons I’ve learned; always be you, always keep learning, and never give up!

The kids were engaged during my entire talk and I even held a short Q&A afterwards. I was able to answer great questions about being bullied, my history in DJing, and they even asked me to rap, which I didn’t expect, but was happy to oblige with a quick few lines off the top of my head. (Once an emcee, always and emcee)

Here was my favorite part:

I even received a very cool bracket from two girls that enjoyed my presentation.

I look forward to speaking to more groups of kids to give them a glimpse into my life and help them see that they can overcome anything in life with a positive attitude. And I truly hope to inspire the kids to never give up!
